2017
The ALTA Klinik moved with its entire team from its offices in Gütersloh to Bielefeld in February 2017. The relocation to a spacious and modern facility was accompanied by the acquisition of state-of-the-art diagnostic technology, including a new Skyra 3-Tesla MRI scanner, a new go.Now 16-detector-row, 32-slice CT scanner and a new therapy device for prostate cancer.
After relocating to Bielefeld, the ALTA Klinik introduced as the first in the world a focal minimally invasive new procedure for the treatment of BPH and prostate cancer. Known as MRI-guided transurethral HIFU ablation, called MRI-guided TULSA-PRO therapy. This new procedure replaced the classic ultrasound-guided transrectal HIFU procedure that had been standard practice since 2009.
2016
In April 2016, the ALTA Klinik entered into a cooperative arrangement with the Hamburg-based Radiologische Allianz. The focus of the agreement is on the provision of MRI-based prostrate diagnostics.
2015
The repertoire of the medneo Diagnostic Center in Berlin was expanded in September 2015 to include MRI examinations, especially MRI scans of the prostate.
2014
In 2014, the ALTA Klinik entered into a partnership with the Urology Department at the Charité University Medical Center in Berlin. The Center is currently headed by Prof. Dr. med. Kurt Miller.
2013
The ALTA Klinik began working with the Institute of Pathology at the Hamburg-Eppendorf University Medical Center in 2013. The Institute is currently under the direction of Prof. Dr. med. G. Sauter.
2010
Dr. Irimia joined the medical staff at the ALTA Klinik in July 2010. As an orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Irimia offers both conservative forms of treatment and surgical intervention.
2009
In 2009, the ALTA Klinik expanded the range of its MRI-based prostate diagnostics. Previously limited to MRI scans of the prostate, a decision was made to include MRI-guided prostate biopsies after Dr. Lumiani and his team had developed a special biopsy technique permitting the pinpointed removal of tissue samples from precisely demarcated areas of interest in the prostate. The technique involves accessing the prostate from a location just above the intergluteal cleft – without passing through the wall of the rectum or the perineum. With no risk of infection from intestinal bacteria, the technique offers the additional advantage of making it unnecessary to administer an antibiotic for purposes of prophylaxis. Patients experience virtually no pain throughout the procedure.
The ALTA Klinik introduced ultrasound-guided HIFU ablation as a treatment for prostate diseases in the same year. The HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) procedure involves the use of ultrasonic energy to destroy diseased tissue in the prostate via coagulation.
2007
The ALTA Klinik was expanded through the addition of a Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology in 2007. This enabled the ALTA Klinik to supplement its Whole-Body MRI Screening procedure, which is focused on the detection of cancer and other pathological changes in the body, with a Heart Attack and Stroke Risk Screening procedure.
2006
The ALTA Klinik was founded in March 2006 as a provider of services in the area of diagnostic and interventional radiology.
